Ms. Mary Ryan

Arkansas State University was the first college that Mary Ryan attended, and she might not have been able to do so without the academic scholarship she received in 1966 to pay for her tuition. She feels that A-State is the best opportunity that many, like her, who grow up in Northeast Arkansas have for a college education. Six of her eight siblings attended A-State at some point in their college careers, and two graduated, as did several of her nieces and nephews.

Mary knows how important A-State is in educating students, and she's seen what a valuable impact a college education can have on lives. "I feel that getting a college education is increasingly more expensive, and that many students struggle to afford it. I hope college scholarships can be instrumental in helping students go to college who might otherwise not have been able to do so." That's why she is establishing a scholarship to help a student from Lawrence County get a college education at A-State.
